Water is a facade material

Every elevation drawn by the shore is in fact drawn twice: once on paper, once on the water. You cannot control the second one — but you can account for it.
Delta Marin on the Beylikdüzü shore consists of five units parallel to the coast — 2,200 m² in total. Each villa reaches the water with a quay-level terrace and steps back with a private floor above.
Light reflected off the sea strikes the ceiling at low sun; the quay-level ceilings were therefore kept taller than usual and light in colour. The lower band of the facade works like a screen carrying the water's movement inside.
We simplified the material palette accordingly: next to the daily-changing light of the water, a talkative facade would be noise.
